Mission Report Name:
Pack 3455 Blue & Gold Banquet
Location:
Farmington, UT
Date(s):
30 Mar 2017
Objective:
Participate in a Star Wars themed Cub Scout Blue & Gold Banquet. Pose for photos, participate in activities.
Unit(s) Involved:
Krayt Clan/Outpost 1313
OM’s Involved:
ORH - 008, Tor Mori
Report:
This was a very well planned event, and the organizers put a lot of thought into the decorations and activities. All of the leaders, and most of the kids, were dressed in some sort of Star Wars costume. There were several activities for the kids, including a pinata, a little shooting gallery (Nerf guns to knock down stacked cans), and a Death Star trench run.
For the Death Star trench, they used tables lined up on their sides to create a trench, 3 smaller tables on their sides to create barricade/shields along the trench, with a box painted like the thermal exhaust port at the end. On the stage was a 4' diameter circle painted to look like the Death Star. The superlaser dish sat in a cutout in the Death Star. Behind the superlaser dish was an air cannon. Kids would don eye protection, then dash from barricade to barricade to avoid "incoming fire" from a leader with a Nerf gun who was on the stage next to the Death Star. Once they reached the last table, they were handed an air powered "rocket launcher" (charged using a small bicycle pump) that would fire a foam dart at the exhaust port. Once they hit the exhaust port, the kid would run to the front and push a button that activated the air cannon behind the Death Star. When activated, the air cannon would shoot the turbolaser dish off of the Death Star prop, and expel shiny streamers with a loud bang.
